Dinga Sikwebu
Dinga Sikwebu spoke at 1001 in our early days and had the speaker's hot seat for a healthy amount of time! Good thing he is a captivating speaker with amazing anecdotes and insights to share. He starts his story about Cape Town, and focuses on how this city came to be so segregated. He describes how his cousin had to change his name and race to be "coloured" to be allowed back into Cape Town. Dinga goes on to talk about being neighbours with the father of Temba Bavuma, the cricket player, and how that relationship was cut short. The story wraps up with soccer "highlights" and ideas about the notion of "integration."
